October 2014

Pūmahara

  • Process of Rangahau visual document recorded
  • Shared with Teresea Olsen, Cheryl Davies prior

10.10.2014 Kōmiti Catch up
Whaingaroa Te Kōhanga Reo
Reigna, Pablo, Missy, Rawinia, Rakai

Only kōrero regarding the Rangahau will be discussed here. In regards to the "Rangahau" Rakai and I:

  • Shared and spoke to our visual document
  • Re-itterated our whakaaro about the need to have some "re-connection" time between Kaiako, Whanau and Committee. Which could happen with the up and coming "Whanau Working Bee" the date had been moved to a Saturday so that all whānau members could support. The day would finish with a kaitahi.
  • Once the whakatau had been done, then we could move in to visioning for the future of the Kōhanga and beyond for our 5yr olds.
  • Kōrero about how we had decided to create a annonymous survey, to ask those sticky questions. Allowing Whanau the oppurtunity to really share their thoughts.
  • Survey would be given to past- present mātua to gauge the reasons why whānau have left the kōhanga.
  • Information would then be collated and shared with whānau. Recommendations would be made, working parties identified.
  • Our view all along has been about the "bigger picture" of what education could look like for Whaingaroa. Te Rū will be 6 next August so we have until then to create a "something" for him. Then after that what is there for him? We are open to homeschooling (with other whānau) in the intrim, with the big desire having a Kura, Wharekura, Wananga, Training Schemes etc on the whenua. As we have been told "This is what the ohāki a Nanny Tuaiwa mō te whenua nei.

14.10.2014- October Whānau Hui
  • The Working Bee wasn't as successfull as the hoped. Weather was unfavourable and Kaiako were not there. The suggestion was made at the hui that Kaiako be there, even if it is only for the Kai.
  • Tono for Te Mania to attend Te Aho Tū Roa whakangungu at Te Mauri Tau 16- 18 October 2014. One of the benefits of her attending allows Rawinia to have time with Kōhanga to facilitate the visioning ngohe during mahi hours.
  • Kaiako letter that outlined thier mamae was gien as correspondence. Whanau were invited to read at thier leisure but the korero within would not be read as to "not take us back there"
  • Rakai and I forgot to update whānau of our process

24.10.2014
  • Kōrero with Kōkā Katarina Mataira about the progress so far. A push for myself to continue to push along. Highlighting a need in my mind to have experiance amongst the ranks to tautoko the mahi.
  • We spoke about the steps that could be taken, a letter that needs to get to Pablo asap
  • Whakatau nawe/ Pure still needing to be done in order for us to all be moving forward with the same mind and hearts in to the next level of the kaupapa

Pumahara
  • Get on to the Survey
  • Letter for Pablo- steps/ process
  • Equity Fund: Priorities budget & spending .i.e. Funding salary for Kaiako, funding facilitator for visioning, cleaning, scope/ survey
